Alabama Filmmakers Association
Mission Statement
The Alabama Filmmakers Association is a non-profit organization created
to promote, develop, and establish the industry of filmmaking by supporting
the Alabama State Film Office, Regional Film Offices and Filmmakers
across the state of Alabama.
Overview
The Alabama Filmmakers Association was established in 1991to support
the Alabama State Film Office, Regional Film Offices, and Filmmakers
across the state. AFA was established as a non-profit corporation in
1993. Statewide conventions were held to unify Filmmakers and establish
a strong filmmaking base in the state of Alabama. Recently AFA has been
revamped to build a stronger support group due to competitive incentive
programs from other states. AFA is governed by a board of directors
from across the state of Alabama so that each region is represented.
AFA plans to attend major film markets and festivals around the world
to promote and secure film productions that will be shot in the state
of Alabama. AFA plans to develop a major talent base by promoting the
existing state talent and creating training programs for up-and-coming
filmmakers. AFA plans to establish a grant program for existing an up-and
coming filmmakers and productions. The Alabama Filmmakers Association
will pursue and support a state incentive program which will not only
promote the industry of film in Alabama, but will raise it to a superior
level.
AFA is supported by grants and contributions from individual and corporate
sponsors.
